Installing Anthracite uPVC Triple-Glazed Windows & Sills (Full House)

A step-by-step analytical guide to removing old window frames and fitting new anthracite/black uPVC triple-glazed windows with matching uPVC sills across five or more openings. Written for a homeowner with some DIY experience who will work alongside a professional installer.
Metal
Frame fixing screws
Box of 100 — turbo/concrete frame fixings, 7.5 mm × 132 mm, corrosion-resistant (secure uPVC frame into masonry reveal)
Fixing lugs / brackets
8 galvanised steel window fixing lugs per window (alternative to face fixing where reveal is awkward)
Hardware
uPVC window units
5+ made-to-measure uPVC frames with triple glazing (3 panes, 2 argon gaps), anthracite RAL 7016 / black inside and out (the windows themselves)
uPVC external sills
One anthracite uPVC sill per window, 150–225 mm deep, cut 60 mm wider than opening each side (sheds rainwater away from wall)
Sill end caps
2 matching anthracite end caps per sill (close and weatherproof the sill ends)
Low-modulus silicone sealant
6–10 cartridges, anthracite/grey and clear, 310 ml each (weatherseal frame-to-wall joint)
Expanding PU foam
4–6 cans low-expansion gun-grade window foam, 750 ml (insulate and pack the perimeter gap)
Expanding foam tape
2–3 rolls self-expanding weatherproof tape, 15–30 mm (compressible airtight seal around frame)
Plastic packers / shims
Assorted pack, 1–6 mm thicknesses (level and plumb the frame in the opening)
uPVC cleaner & protective film
1 bottle uPVC solvent cleaner plus retained factory film (protect and clean the anthracite finish)
Finishing
Ready-mixed filler / bonding plaster
1 tub per 2 windows (make good the internal reveal after fitting)
Trickle vents (if required)
1 per window if building regulations require background ventilation (anthracite to match)
